Last updated January 29th, 2014 Friends, due to delays in the construction of our house (which we are building ourselves), we will unfortunately not have time to host free Buddhist public talk events with Sonam in 2014. We hope after building has been completed (and depending on our financial ability), we be able to continue future Buddhist talks in late 2015 or 2016. Please subscribe to our blog for future updates. Thanks and best wishes

Dr Sonam Thakchoe looks forward to the 5th and 6th of his 6 public talks in 2013. Dr. Thakchoe's 5th (Fri Nov 15th) and 6th talk (Fri Dec 20th) commence at 6.30pm. The evenings finish at 8.30pm. The final talks will be held at the Cygnet Supper Room (upstairs Cygnet Town Hall) 14 Mary Street, Cygnet Tasmania. The topic: Anger & Patience and Courage and Fear.

About our page: The site remains under construction. We are just a couple of people trying to organise some free talks / teachings on predominately Buddhist philosophy in the Huon Valley. We wanted to make the talks and teachings free because we've noticed in the last couple of decades in particular, Dharma teachings have been becoming more and more unaffordable for those who might be just scraping by. The Dharma should always be free and although there are costs involved in presenting a teacher at a venue, we should do our best to make sure the actual teachings free of charge. Therefore, we will do our best to make these teachings freely available to the extent we can. To that end, we will endeavour to fund teachings ourselves as much as possible, though we are far from wealthy. We invite people to make gold coin donations at events if they wish to help cover costs of facilities etc.
Although we are Buddhist (and vegan), the teachings will not be sectarian, since we believe many traditions have value. As a result, we hope to host teachers from Buddhist, Jain, and other traditions of mind-training and transformation.
We invite you to subscribe to our blog. Please view why we hold vegan events here?
Unfortunately we had to cancel the visit by the first teacher we planned to visit -- Lama Choedak Rinpoche, a Tibetan Lama from the Sakya tradition -- because unforeseen events interfered with this particular time. We hope to invite him again in the future.
We have arranged for Dr. Sonam Thakchoe to give teachings from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at the Cygnet Supper Room (upstairs from Cygnet Town Hall at 14 Mary Street Cygnet) on the 3rd Friday of June, August, September, October, November and December 2013. Please see link for details.
